Hawaii: Statehood Unmasked

In counterpoint to the State of Hawai'i organizing contests and special events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hawai'i's becoming a U.S. state, the Kaua'i Alliance for Peace and Social Justice  presented an event titled Hawai'i: Statehood Unmasked on Saturday, August 1, 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lihue Neighborhood Center, (new hall).

Dean Itsuji Saranillio, Ph D., presented a talk based on his doctoral dissertation, "Seeing Conquest: Colliding Histories and the Cultural Politics of Hawai’i Statehood". Maui born, Saranillio recently completed his dissertation at the University of Michigan.
